The Opioid Epidemic: What Veterinarians Need to Know

The FDA knows that veterinarians are also on the front lines when it comes to combatting the opioid epidemic that has gripped much of our country, and that keeping opioids secure in the veterinary practice, while retaining access for patient who need pain control, is a primary concern. Today, the agency has published a resource that will help veterinarians comply with federal and state regulations for prescribing, storing and disposing of these products; know how to help pets that overdose; and identify signs that may indicate the potential for abuse.
