Canine Hyperadrenocorticism (HAC) Webinar

September 6, 2016

Canine hyperadrenocorticism (HAC) is a condition most commonly found in middle-aged or older dogs. Also known as Cushing’s disease, many of its symptoms so closely resemble the gradual physical changes of an older dog that clients often mistakenly attribute the changes they are observing in their pet to the normal aging process. Because of this, animals that have developed the disease are often not brought in for a veterinary check until well after the disease has established itself. Also, the diagnosis of HAC is often not straightforward as many of the clinical symptoms that present upon examination are not unique to the disease, but could actually be indicators of other health issues.

Diagnosing and Managing HAC
Dechra Veterinary Products, the manufacturer of Vetoryl™ Capsules (trilostane), understands how challenging the diagnosis and management of HAC can be. In an effort to help practitioners and staff identify the disease and provide the best treatment for their patients, Dechra Veterinary Products and Covetrus have partnered together to bring you and your veterinary team an educational webinar on managing and treating canine hyperadrenocorticism. Presented by Kathy Engler, DVM, this webinar highlights advancements in veterinary care which are aimed to help animals diagnosed with HAC live longer and healthier. Topics of the HAC webinar will focus on:

  • Pathophysiology
  • Clinical signs
  • Diagnostic testing and differentiation
  • Treatment and monitoring of the disease
  • Review of cases
  • Common questions

At the end of the webinar Dr. Engler will hold a question and answer opportunity for attendees. The material presented will prove valuable for all who work within a veterinary practice, and will help to provide an understanding of the following:

  • Procedures to recognize and diagnose HAC
  • Methods to treat HAC
  • The effect of the disease when left untreated
  • The impact that HAC diagnosis and treatment will have on clients and on the practice
  • Ways to gain client compliance when requesting testing and treatment delivery.
