Like many of you, we are continuing to work through challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We expect there will be an unprecedented volume of packages within the national supply chain during the last six weeks of the calendar year, known as the “peak shipping period.” Timely deliveries could become a challenge, and so we are planning proactively to mitigate, or at least reduce the issue. We need to think broadly, because this is not a just a Covetrus issue, it is a national supply chain issue for both business-to-business and business-to-customer shipping.
While, Covetrus has not received a cap on the number of packages we are permitted to ship, as other companies have, Covetrus has been asked by our transportation providers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS) to smooth out shipments within the November 30 - December 4, 2020 and the last two weeks of December shipping windows, in order to ensure timely deliveries.
With this in mind, we are instituting some changes to our fulfillment and shipping guidelines to give you and us the best opportunity for maintaining deliveries, as needed, despite anticipated challenges presented by package volume. We ask you to use the guidance below during the weeks before and after Thanksgiving. After the Thanksgiving holiday, we will publish additional guidance for last two weeks of December.
