Product Description

PGA Swift suture is a synthetic, braided absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a 100% polymer made from polyglycolic acid. The characteristic of rapid loss of strength is achieved using a polymer material with a lower molecular weight than a polyglycolic acid suture. Coated fast absorbing polyglycolic acid sutures are obtained by coating the braided suture material with a mixture composed of equal parts of polymer and calcium stearate. PGA Swift suture is intended to model the performance of collagen (surgical gut) suture established by the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) and European Pharmacopoeia (EP) requirements for synthetic absorbable sutures, except for knot tensile strength. Knot tensile strength meets the USP and EP for collagen sutures. Needle size 4-0 , needle length 18 in.
